This was our press release hype:

"With Iron Maiden proving themselves hands-down the hottest metal band on the planet with their killer new studio album A Matter Of Life And Death, what better time to commemorate all things Maiden, than with an art book celebrating the creator of Eddie?

Run For Cover: The Art Of Derek Riggs is a full color explosion of Eddie in your face. Iron Maiden's beloved neon monster is quite possibly the most beloved and recognized character rock 'n' roll has ever witnessed. And in Iron Maiden lore, Eddie has been there from the beginning, helping make Maiden the epic metal juggernaut they have become. In Run For Cover, heavy metal's preeminent book man Martin Popoff coaxes the life story out of Eddie's reclusive creator, with Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood - the prime source of ideas for Eddie outside of Derek himself - also adding his twist on the tale.

But Run For Cover doesn't stop there. We also see Derek's work before Maiden, as well as his art for the likes of Gamma Ray and Stratovarius, all the while Derek explaining the often esoteric meanings behind the art, his techniques, as well as the battles with his health that have often threatened to grind his output to a halt.

Run For Cover is presented as a 180 page, full color, large format, top quality art book, sporting approximately 200 graphics, some unpublished, some unfinished, many pristine originals from the Iron Maiden vaults, thanks to the full cooperation of Smallwood and his charges. In addition, Riggs has painted a stunning new Eddie to grace the cover.”

As a casual note from me, this thing is stuffed with pictures and the layout is gorgeous. But there is also a ton of text. I interviewed Derek for a long, long time over many sessions and picked his brain clean on all things Maiden and beyond. Interesting guy, interesting story. It is a little pricier than my other books, but the I have to match price with the figures set in an agreement between Iron Maiden and the publisher.

Important Note 1: There was an hardcover edition but they are SOLD OUT. All remaining copies are soft cover.

Important Note 2: Books will not ship until mid-December. I actually don't like the idea of collecting your money and then shipping in mid-December, but the day I get them (this could vary by a week or 10 days), I WILL send out your book. You know me - I'm reliable.

*Money orders: For my US friends, PLEASE, if you go this route (and you don’t have to – checks in US finds is fine), make sure you get an INTERNATIONAL money order, and not the DOMESTIC one that says in big red letters: “Negotiable in U.S. and possessions only.” Ha ha… I’ve had to mail more than a few of those back to y’all.

Note: As usual, I'll be signing the book to you from me, so let me know if it's a present or whatever for somebody else!

Note: nice savings on shipping can be had if you take a few different books, or multiple copies of this one. Just email me for a total
